***EDITED BY MODERATOR. PLEASE TRIM YOUR MESSAGES.***

I have two Chihuahua's that I just started on raw a week ago. One
is 5 lbs. and the other is 2 1/2 lbs. They both have been tearing
through chicken drumsticks and wings. The bones are not a problem,
they break them up pretty well.
The only challenging thing is that, according to the 2-3% of ideal
body weight rule, they should technically only be eating about half
of a drumstick a day. But since it is not about measuring and
weighing, I let the dogs eat about half and then take the rest up
and save it for the next days meal. Then you look to the dogs
weight and condition to show you if they need more or less. The
bigger of the two of mine needs to lose weight, so if I see her
gaining weight, I definitely will need to cut back.
Good Luck and stick around here, the others on this list are way
more experienced than me!

I'm so sorry that you and Holly are in such a stressful time. It
makes sense to me that she's starting to guard things that she
values, it sounds like she's lost quite a bit recently. If it were
me, I would pretend I was starting all over with her and
start "trading" one foodstuff for the other. I think it was about a
month or two ago that we had a great discussion about methods to deal
with resource guarding. Hopefully someone bookmarked it, if I find
the thread, I'll send you a link.

In the meantime, take care of yourselves, you're in our thoughts.

But if we do not learn from our mistakes we are doomed to repeat them.

What does kelp offer that an appropriately fed raw diet doesn't? What
may my dogs be missing by not eating a sea plant?

And how is this benefit your dog?
