I noticed that since my whippet started on raw, he poo much much lesser
but pee much more.
When he eats more meat, say 400gm, that is when he is in mood, his poo
is soft but when he eats about 150/200gm, his poo is alright.
Is this correct?

I disagree with those who say it is improper for a vet to ask what we feed, as feeding is critical to the health of the dog. So it is actually to this vet's credit that he DOES ask. The problem is that he will not be able to help and advise you with the way you have chosen to feed your dog, meaning that you couldl either get lectured, guilt-tripped, or something else that won't be helpful to you or your dog's health. It really sabotages the quality of care, if you can't communicate freely.

So glad you are moving to an area with holistic vets.

My now-former vet is very caring and thorough, but is a pill-pusher, who strongly supports commercial pet food. When he wanted to give my beautiful and healthy new dog prednizonne because his skin "looks a little dry,'" I knew we needed to change.

He disapproved of my home-cooked meals, and I know if a digestive problem had arisen, the first thing he would have done was push commercial dog food. How much more so for raw!

I want a trained professional, who understands and supports what I am going to do anyway, so I can ask honest questions and get real help. My new vet is knowledgeable and supportive of both raw and home cooked, and doesn't lay guilt trips. I hope you find a knowledgeable and supportive vet, because it makes a big difference in your pet's overall health care. I wish we had made the switch years ago!

Lori

I have a 8 1/2 yr old mini schnauzer who is on nature variety.
How do I start him on raw?
Any issue on starting one that's already a senior?
