Ahem.
It has been brought to my attention that perhaps these meats you are
feeding are not whole, but rather are grinds and blends prefabricated
by Bravo.

Yes? No?

I know that Bravo sells whole meals, and that's how I interpreted
your menu. I would be heartbroken to learn that you have come THIIIS
close to feeding a fine raw diet only to squander your doggiedollars
on prechewed food.

Could you clear this up for me please?
Thanks.

hi, Kimberly! Thank you for the advice! :) Another question. .since it is
"suspected" that our guy was conceived in the 5th day of the mating, should I
wait an extra week (making it almost 9 weeks) to pick him up since he would
technically be 5 days behind the others in development? Or does that really
make much difference? Thanks! Tamatha

This is a great idea for me, Andrea, thanks. I have inhaling pugs. But
I read on the forum that I shouldn't give frozen meat, etc., to a small
dog. I've misunderstoo then?

Thank you! We lost our lastdog to epilepsy aeveral years ago, and just adopted a two year old Labrador a month ago. Though I have always fed my dogs a lot of real food (mostly meat and fish), I was completely unaware there was any "movement." It just made sense to feed them meat, their natural food.

yea i kept trying to think up scenarios where a dog could hunt a
squid... and kept picturing mermaid dogs. but i kinda lumped them in
the same category as fish.

squid's on the menu tomorrow, sans beak. report to follow. wish my
camera wasn't broken.

The raw diet as fed is higher in the amount of protein consumed per
day than most kibbles.

If you say that the raw diet is 18% protein as fed, you are correct.
But if someone takes that piece of information and assumes that this
value can be compared directly to the percent protein in kibble, that
person would be making an incorrect assumption.

If you say that the percent protein in raw meat is a lot lower than
the percent moisture, I think you are correct. But when you say that
raw meat is 'not high in protein' because of the moisture, I think
that phrase can be misinterpreted.

What does the phrase 'not high in protein' mean to the person you're
talking to? If the person wants to know how the amount of protein a
dog gets per day on the diet, or what percent of calories comes from
protein, compared to the amount of protein in the commercial diets
that a vet is used to dealing with, then the fact that raw meat has
60-70% moisture is not information that answers that person's real
question.

That is too cute. I have a litter of nine puppies right now, which is
a huge number for an English Cocker. Usually, my girls don't want to
wean until 4-5 weeks, but the puppies are three weeks old and this
mom keeps dragging parts of her dinner into their box and leaving it
there with them. It is pretty cute as she sits there all proud of
herself for feeding her babies. Not so cute, she also is
regurgitating, but I won't go into details on that (-: The puppies do
not chew on the whole parts that she drags in, but rather nurse on it
like it will magically produce chicken or pork milk. It is so cute to
see their little paws working as they try so hard to nurse on a piece
of chicken.

Warmly,

Thanks for the replies. I realise that feeding raw won't cure the
disease, but hopefully it would help alleviate the symptoms. And as you
say, raw food is a whole lot better than anything commercial.

Best regards,

Mal Firth
