Jackson is now doing fine. I'm glad to say his stools are now perfect.
Seems like the problem was parasitosis. Although stool sample came back
negative, I have learned that identifying parasites in stool samples is
not easy,and a negative test does not mean the pet is parasite-free.
Careful attention to the symptoms is key. A course of Flagyl/Corid
appears to be doing the trick. Thank you all for your
help/advice/knowledge transfer.
