[rawfeeding] Re: raw feeders in MD? how to find affordable meats

Another raw feeder on this list and I recently put an order in to

http://www.cedarruncattle.com/ for a whole hog. If you order a whole
animal he will include the organs if you specify. Comes out to around
$1.60-$1.70/lb if nothing is smoked or cured (they assume it is for
human consumption, of course)- this is for small scale pasture raised
pork. We haven't gotten the order yet though, so I can't attest to
that yet.
Other than that, try Sysco cash and carry in Elkridge, MD and look for
sales- best ones seem to be at food lion (look for marked down meat
that is about to expire!) and safeway.
With all this, though, I'm still paying about $1.30/lb average and
can't find organs besides liver, so it depends what you can afford
(let me know if you find any good deals, cause I can't really afford
it!). Try chinatown in DC or the Lotte market in Ellicott City (I
haven't had a chance bc we now live on the far end of MD, but I've
heard asian stores are good).
Try http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/CarnivoreFeed-Supplier as well,
although I haven't found that to be terribly helpful.

If anyone knows of online ordering places in the northeast please post
them somewhere, cause the shipping from these other places is killer!
