[rawfeeding] Ate a baby bird & diarrhea/mucousy stool

Hi Everyone,

My dog got away from me when we were outside playing around. She
ran into some tall grass and all of a sudden I heard what sounded
like a baby bird scream. By the time I got to her, she'd eaten it,
most likely took a few bites and swallowed as big as she could. I'm
sure the bird couldnt fly yet.

So...she seemed fine the rest of that night, she had 3 small good
poops the next morning. I figured since she'd already had dinner
PLUS this bird later that evening, the 3 poops were probably
normal. The next morning, I'd already thawed out what I was going
to feed her, a little bit of beef liver (about the size of 3
quarters), beef heart (about 2 ounces) and the rest of her meal was
turkey with bones. She's had liver for quite sometime now, I've
never gone over 2 quarters worth at a time since she is still
getting used to it.

Anyway, she had no bowel movements after the 3 small poops that
morning until the next day. The 'next day' was yesterday. All
yesterday and today, throughout the night and this morning, she has
been having BAD diarrhea, mucous, pudding-ish, dark, etc. I know
this can be from the liver, maybe an extra quarter was a bit too
much since I also gave her the rich beef heart.

My concern is this: How long should this type of bowel movement
last if I gave her a bit too much liver/heart? Should it go into 2
days? I ask because I dont know if she could be sick from the
bird. How can I tell if maybe she got sick from eating the baby
bird? I didn't see the baby bird, but I assume it was a baby bird
because of the sound it made. I haven't fed her yet today.

Thanks!
Melani
