Re: [rawfeeding] New at this... Gizzards?

Hi,Vanessa. Try read other posts in the past in this group and you find many questions you may have. I just started rawfeeding about a month ago,and doing so was a big help too as well as asking others here on what you cannot find answer to.

Luckily,my dog took raw without any problems but,I read a lot that some people have problems to let the dog eat raw.Maybe texture and flavor differences?

Usually they recommend you to sear the meat bit and less searing as time passes It seems work for many people. Some people recommend to put parmesan cheese on top but, when I had raw fish that my dog did not go crazy about, she just licked the cheese off and,for me,it did not work.

And I have heard that meat in a bag in warm water and bring the meat temp up and dog eats it ok,too.

And I have read before that if the dog did not eat the food in about 20 minutes or so,take the dish away and offer the same stuff to the dog.

My dog started on chicken;Leg quarter,as starter and I did not give gizzard or liver first till she get used to rawfood.

My suggestion is that try one thing only and without guizzard or liver or other organ first and once your dog gets to eat the raw and get used to it,then offer such organ etc.

Organ like liver anyway rich and most likely have run. Guizzard is technically muscle meat so,it may not but, meat and bone is more important than guizzard.

Others would help you more I think but they may tell you to buy a whole chicken/whole Turky, cut into 4th and feed it.

If you start with Turkey, get whole Turkey or Turkey Drumstick(more meatier than neck) and go from there will be good.

If you go with chicken, whole chicken/chicken leg qurter/chicken breast with rib would be good one to start.Wallmart sells bag of leg qurter quite cheap.

I do not know why but I do not find Turkey breast with rib bone at store.. It is wiered..

Good luck!

I hope you get more experienced feeder's post too. They are quite helpful.

Go slow and be patient with your dog:->
