[rawfeeding] Re: Hello, I'm new. I need some help please.

Hey Laura,
I'm new here too so I figued I'd answer some of your questions.
I've been reading the archives here and it seems the concensus is that
raw should be started and kibble compeltely stopped. The mixing of the
two doesn't work well as raw moved through the system faster and
kibble can interrupt this and cause problems.

Concerning the loose stool- this doesn't mean the end of the world,
perhaps she ate a little too much liver, or too much fat. You need to
give more detail as to what she ate and not worry so much. monitor
your dog's poop and adjust- don't give up. Also, pumpkin does not help
! I thought so too until I came to this group. stick to the raw,
perhaps feed more bone at the next meal. You have done a good thing in
switching, if your dog is really sick as you say then take her to the
vet! but if she just has one day of diarrhea, calm down, deep breaths
and just follow the advice I mentioned above. It bothers you much more
than your dog.

As for the cost, I myself am on food stamps, yet I am all about the
raw food diet. you are your dog's caretaker and if you have decided
raw is best- stick with it! you will save money on vet bills in the
long run and you and your dogs will be happier and less stressed.
There are groups and co-ops in your area you just have to research and
find them. maybe post specifically about that or search yahoo groups.
look on craigslist and freecycle. especially in CA you should be able
to find some.

seriously I think you are a bit too stressed about this, stay the
path, you have done your research and made a good decision. good luck!
