Re: [rawfeeding] Chicken-missing in action?

We began raising chickens last year so that we could have fresh eggs without all the added trash and hormones.

I noticed early this spring that one of my chickens was missing. Next week same thing. This kept on until I was up to a total of five missing chickens.

All the while I had verified that there were no holes in our chicken house, no visible predators during the day when they were allowed to free range, and there was never a single feather or body part any where on our property. Hmmm.....it fast became a mystery.

Then all of the sudden mystery solved. My pack had worked together to take down a chicken (I caught them in action one day while doing laundry) and ate the whole thing. Feathers, feet, and all. Mystery solved.... I won't go into the details as to how they were clever enough to convince the chicken to fly into the dog play yard, just suffice it to say that these are some smart dogs.

What amazed me was that they consumed even the feathers!!! Just goes to show you....you just never know.
