[rawfeeding] Maya -- Remember the live bird she ate?
Hi Everyone,
I dont remember if you guys remember me e-mailing this list last
week. I said that Maya ate a live baby bird (at least I thought it
was a bird since I heard it, but I never got a chance to see it
before Maya swallowed it). This happened on a week ago from last
Friday. Saturday she ate some beef heart and liver. This of course
gave her the runs. I havent given her ANY organs or beef heart for a
week now because she still has loose stool. Her stool is sometimes
discolored, one time a tiny bit of greenish-color. Some mucous with
the stools. In about 5 days of diarrhea now, she's had maybe 3
normal stools. She's only been eating chicken, rabbit, and turkey.
All things she's been eating for a long while now and never had
issues with. I even fasted her like you guys suggested last week.
I've tried extra bone to harden up the stool, but it just turned her
stool a lighter color and still diarrhea.
Do you guys think it's possible she could have gotten a parasite from
the bird? Or something else? What would you guys do? Fast her
again? I'm feeding her only chicken now, hasn't helped yet though. I
dont think she is dehydrated, because she doesnt diarrhea all day
long. She goes about twice a day, but it's diarrhea. She acts
fairly normal, she's very relaxed in the house and looks almost
tired, but when we go outside, she's ready to go out and do whatever
it is we are doing.
Suggestions?
Thanks a bunch!
Mel
