[rawfeeding] Green Tripe

My first green tripe experience was last February. I live in a "cow County", and while driving home past a ranch, saw a mobile slaughterer finishing up a cow. He had an overflowing trash can of stuff.

I stopped, grabbed a plastic trash bag from the back of my truck and went to see what I could get.

He was happy to give me the lower stomach, about 20 pounds or more, which wouldn't fit into the trash can. I drove home, elated, and decided, since it was getting dark and there was snow on the ground, to leave it ouside for the night and deal with it in the morning.

Well, in the morning there was no trace or bag or contents (lucky coyotes!)
I'm going to call him this fall when the weather gets cold and trail him to a job. This time I'll take better care of the treasure!

You might check your yellow pages for this type of slaughterer unless you live, say, in the middle of NYC!
