Re: [rawfeeding] Hi from NY

Carol & Petey -
Welcome to the group. I chose a raw diet for my Cavalier King Charles Spaniels after losing my Westhighland White Terriers to cancer several years ago. They were 12 and 15, respectively, and each died of bladder cancer. No commonalities in their pedigrees. This unfortunate incident opened my eyes to investigate their diet and vaccine protocol.
This is an extremely informative group willing to share their years of knowledge. Also, I don't know if you're a reader, but Tom Lonsdale's book, Work Wonders, is an easy and worthwhile read.
Good luck to you. You'll learn much along the way and your Petey will be all the better for it:)

I'm new to the group. I have a 7 month old Dobie Puppy named Petey.
He has been on Raw for about 2 months now. He is doing really well.
I decided to try Raw after losing my two Weimaraners in the last 8
months to cancer and epilepsy. They were on 9 and 6. I started to
think their early deaths could have been prevented by better food
choices. When I got Petey in January he had chronic diarrhea on every
dry food I tried~all top brands, like Solid Gold and Innova. He was
on antibiotics, kaopectate, boiled chop-meat and rice...I found out on
my Doberman Talk room....I should try Raw! Well it worked, two days
into it...my boy was better! He is a very healthy 82 pounds of solid
muscle.

I'm looking forward to gaining more information from everyone!
