[rawfeeding] Re: throwing up and constipated

Hi Jen,

By any chance are you mixing raw w/kibble? If not that, keep in mind
they do poop a lot less on raw. The food is much more digestible and
usable, and there's less waste. Is she actually straining to go, or
are you just seeing less poop? This could just be a newbie
adjusting. But in this situation, I'd probably pick a protein and
stick with it for a couple weeks so things can stabilize and then you
can start adding bits of other things. That way you'll know what's
going on.

From reading the list for almost a year, it sounds to me like many
(if not most) people mix meats at meals. I may be
considered "extreme," but I like to keep it pretty simple and not
feed too much variety in one meal. I've done some research on
digestion and food combining, and believe it to be better and easier
for the body to digest very simple meals. So, when possible, I like
to give my dog beef roast with beef liver, lamb heart with lamb
necks, etc. It also seems more natural to me. But sometimes I have
to mix, because I can't have perfect combinations of everything at
all times (like what would make up a whole prey animal). So, just do
whatever you can do and know you're lifetimes ahead of kibble!
